I'm your host, Ryan Simonovich. Native Americans did not have the right to vote for the first 36 years of New Mexico's statehood. In 1948, Miguel Trujillo sued the state to obtain Native American voting rights. That's the subject of a presentation by Dr. Gordon Brisky at the Aztec Museum in Pioneer Village on July 12th. The presentation tells the story of Trujillo and how Native American suffrage is connected to the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 and continues today. The program begins at 2:00 PM and is free to attend. The Alliance for Navajo Broadband and Four Corners Economic Development will host the second annual Broadband Future Conference on August 26th of the San Juan College campus. The conference will discuss how the region can encourage investment in broadband infrastructure and promote high-speed internet use to encourage economic growth.
