Sun Ray Park and Casino petitions to leave Farmington. The Aztec Museum in Pioneer Village launched a lunch and learn series during the museum's off season, and the Farmington Chamber of Commerce partners with JA Jewelers and Company for their annual coat drive. The Sunray Park and casino owners surprise San Juan County officials with a petition to relocate the casino and racetrack from Farmington to Clovis, New Mexico, a town in Curry County on the New Mexico Texas border. The New Mexico State Racing Commission unanimously approved to advance the petition. A delegation of San Juan County Commissioners and representatives of the San Juan County legislation attended the commission meeting, but were not given an opportunity to speak on behalf of the county and economic impact of losing the casino. Sunray Park and Casino employs more than 120 San Juan County residents Four Corners Economic Development urges its members and stakeholders to email New Mexico Racing Commission Senior Law Clerk David Dominguez to oppose the licensed transfer. Sunray Park Casino says nothing will change for 2026. While the commission reviews the relocation proposal. The Aztec Museum in Pioneer Village invites the community to a new Lunch and Learn series on the first and third Fridays of the month through the off season when the museum closes from November to late April. The next session will be on Friday, November 21st. Historian and genealogist, Patty Tharp will present on the New Mexico artist Henrie at yf. Then Margie Sartan will present on the advancement of whale communication Research on Friday, December 5th. Presentations will be from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the museum on Main Avenue in downtown Aztec. Attendees may bring their own lunches for details and updates. The Farmington Chamber of Commerce and JA Jewelers and Company will host their 15th annual business after hours and coat drive on Friday, November 14th. The event costs $5 plus a business card to attend, or you can get in for free if you bring a new children's coat to donate. Attendees will receive one ticket entry for a prize drawing for each additional coat donation. The event will be from five to 7:00 PM at Ja Jewelers and Company on East 30th Street.
