Animas River Wave Opens At Gateway Park

Farmington officially opened its river wave on the Animas River at Gateway Park. The wave is controlled by three underwater gates that can be adjusted to account for the rivers’ flow rate. The Farmington River Wave is now open for river users to enjoy. Downtown Farmington is accredited as a Main Street America program and the Little Mermaid is coming to the Farmington Civic Center. The Farmington River Wave is open on the Animus River at Gateway Park. The city of Farmington began construction on the wave earlier this year, and now River surfers, kayakers and rafters can enjoy the feature. The wave officially was christened with a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 26th and is one of several outdoor recreation projects and to improve quality of life and attract tourists and businesses. Downtown Farmington is an accredited Main Street America program. The Main Street America organization is dedicated to re-energizing and strengthening older and historic downtowns and has two tiers. Affiliate and accredited Farmington is one of 800 communities across the country to be accredited This year, the designation recognizes farmington's preservation based economic development and community revitalization. Last year, main Street America programs generated $7.65 billion in local reinvestment. Fans of The Little Mermaid can catch a stage production of the classic Disney film at the Farmington Civic Center. From July 31st to August 10th, the Four Corners Musical Theater Company production runs Thursdays through Sundays at 7:30 PM each day.
