COVID vaccinations may have allowed more employees to return to the workplace, but many are not so eager to head back to the office. The US Labor Department reports that more than four million workers quit their jobs in April alone, and the trend is expected to continue in what is now called, the great resignation. But working on your own is as a consultant or freelancer or even a start up entrepreneur, can be lonely. And let's face it, you're Zoomed out and meetings with clients at your kitchen table are tacky. If you're craving person to person meetings or spur of the moment brainstorming sessions, you may want to consider a membership at Connect Space, a new coworking center in downtown Farmington. Connect Space founder, Jaime Wisner, remodeled the old JC Penney building at 203 West Main Street in downtown Farmington. And the display window is a metaphor for how radically the world of work is changing, and how worker's expectations have changed in the wake of the pandemic. According to the staffing firm, LaSelle Network, 68% of workers prefer to work remotely closer to home. And AllWork.Space, a digital magazine that examines future work trends, reports that more than one in three workers plans to become a freelancer, with 49% saying they would do so for more flexibility. Connect Space is ready to respond. The spacious venue includes open desk areas, small to large meeting rooms, a kitchen, private offices for one to four workers, a large meeting room for workshops, casual seating areas, and a pool table downstairs. Memberships start at $28 a day for a five day drop in pass, to $350 a month for a dedicated desk with eight hours of conference room privileges. Private office rentals start at $500 a month, but the benefits of working around others when you choose, are priceless.
What these spaces provide is a network within the membership, and that's really the most important thing is to have that opportunity like you said, to share ideas and brainstorm.
