Farmington is planning five days of events to celebrate the July 4th holiday. Farmington Freedom Days is a collection of independently organized events that are marketed by Visit Farmington. You're watching the Farmington Local News, brought to you by Durango Motor Company and Sunray Parking Casino. I'm Ryan Simonovich. The celebrations begin on July 2nd with the Firecracker Fun Festival at Biste Bay Waterpark at the Farmington Aquatic Center from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM The event includes water games, activities and prizes, and costs $6 to attend the Freedom Days Fireworks display takes place on July 3rd, not the fourth. Fireworks will be set off from Sullivan Hill beginning at 9:25 PM The display is choreographed to a musical soundtrack that can be heard on KWK 94.9 fm. Popular viewing locations are San Juan College, Farmington Public Library, and the Farmington Museum and Visitor Center. On June 10th, Farmington City Council banned fireworks because of drought conditions and high fire danger. However, a city spokesperson confirmed that the Freedom Days fireworks display will continue as planned. Friday's party at the park includes vendors live entertainment and a skateboard competition at Brookside Park from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM head downtown on Friday evening for the Freedom Days Electric Light Parade along Main Street. The parade features patriotic floats illuminated by lights. It starts at 9:00 PM on July 5th. An additional fireworks display will be in Bloomfield beginning at dusk. The fireworks are set off west of B Hill in north of City Hall. Music will be broadcast on KFDP 93.5 fm. The Gem and Mineral Show also begins Friday and continues through Sunday at McGee Park. Enjoy gemstones jewelry, mineral specimens, tools, books, family activities, and door prizes. Entry is $1 in children under 12.
