San Juan County in the cities of Aztec, Bloomfield and Farmington hosted a competition to collect food for local families in need. The Aztec Chamber of Commerce presents a very abominable Christmas and Riverside Nature Center approved a new facility manager and educator. You are watching the local news Roundup, brought to you by Sunray Parking Casino and Ace Hardware of Farmington. I am Sadie Smith. Local government organizations in Northwest New Mexico competed to collect food items to distribute to families in need. In San Juan County. The county announced the results on November 13th. Together, San Juan County and the cities of Aztec, Bloomfield and Farmington collected more than 21,000 pounds of food for the economic council helping others or Echo Food Bank. The food bank accepts donations year round as well as holiday meal items for Thanksgiving and Christmas food boxes. For food assistance, resources and donation information, visit echo inc.org. The Aztec Chamber of Commerce will host Sparkles 2025, a very abominable Christmas on Saturday, December 13th. The event will include family friendly Christmas festivities like caroling, and a visit from Santa in the abominable snowman. The Christmas parade will begin at 6:00 PM on Main Street, and the open house will be at the Aztec Museum in Pioneer Village. For event details, head to the visit Aztec website. Riverside Nature Center announced Micah Kippe as the new facility manager and educator. Kippe is originally from the Pacific Northwest and holds a Bachelor of Science and Geological Sciences from Central Washington University. He has worked at Yellowstone National Park and the Arizona State Park System. Riverside Nature Center is a part of Farmington museum system and offers nature programs and exhibits about the ecology of Northwest New Mexico. The current exhibit, small Wonders and Sex and Focus will be on display through Wednesday, January 7th. Visit the City of Farmington website for more information.
