Revelers no longer can set off fireworks at McGee Park. The tradition has taken place since 2016, but San Juan County says the event has become too crowded and dangerous. To ensure county officials saying last year's celebrations saw illegal parking, alcohol use, and violence. Municipal fireworks displays will take place on July 3rd in Farmington and July 5th in Bloomfield on July 4th. The Freedom Days Electric Light Parade will take place in downtown Farmington. The awards are named in honor of the hospital's former Chief Nursing Officer in recognition of Smith's mini contributions during her 38 year career, Leah Nigar won the early career award. Jessica Scott won the Excellence in Nursing Award. Brian Ander won the emerging Nurse Leader Award and Diana Cross won the Nurse Leader Award.
