Bloomfield police officer Timothy Ontiveros, who died from a gunshot wound on June 1st, was brought home in a law enforcement procession on June 3rd, and laid to rest. Ontiveros died from injuries sustained when responding to a traffic stop. According to police, Ontiveros stopped a suspect for a traffic violation in Bloomfield on May 26th. The suspect locked themselves in their car and concealed their identity, according to police. Ontiveros broke the car's window to initiate an arrest when the suspect shot at the officer. Ontiveros was transferred to the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, but died from his injuries six days later. The male suspect was fatally shot by another police officer on the scene. Free concerts at the Farmington Museum returned on June 7th with a performance by Sean Thornton Blues Band. Concerts continue every Saturday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. through August 30th. Different bands each week will showcase a variety of genres, from blues and rock to folk and Americana. The concerts take place on the museum terrace. Learn more at farmingtonmuseum.org.
