Mark your calendars for the 21st annual Festival of Trees with activities for the whole family. It’s time to nominate an individual or business for the Farmington Chamber of Commerce’s Business and Citizen of the Year, and if you’re looking for an excellent volunteer opportunity, become a CASA Volunteer with Childhaven, Inc.. Welcome in the holiday season with a New Mexico Christmas. The annual Christmas Parade, Thursday, November 30th. The 21st Annual Festival of Trees. Benefiting Presbyterian Medical Services begins November 28th with a variety of activities for the whole family. Nominations for the 2023 "Citizen and Business of the Year" are open and sign up to become a CASA Volunteer. You're watching the "Local News Roundup", brought to you by Traegers Bar and Ace Hardware in Farmington. I'm Gillian Arwine. Come enjoy the fun at a New Mexico Christmas Parade on Thursday, November 30th at 5:30 PM The parade along main street will include a variety of floats, marching bands, and a special appearance from Santa. Find your spot between Auburn Street and Wall Street to ring in the holiday season. The 21st Annual Festival of Trees returns running from Tuesday, November 28th through Saturday, December 2nd. Daily ticketed events like "Teddy Bear Story Time" and "Coffee Breaks with the Trees" are available for everyone and the trees are always open and free to the public to view. Stop by between 9:00 AM and 8:30 PM Tuesday through Thursday, 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM Friday, and 8:30 AM to noon on Saturday to find your favorite tree. A live drawing will be held via Facebook on Sunday, December 3rd to announce the winners of the trees. All proceeds will benefit Presbyterian Health Services. Child Haven Inc is looking for people who would like to be a CASA Volunteer. CASA which stands for Court Assigned Special Advocate, are volunteers who are appointed by a children's court judge to speak in the best interests of abused and neglected children. The commitment is one year long and around six to 10 hours a month. CASA volunteers meet with their assigned child once a month and are asked to attend any meetings and court hearings that pertain to that case. Regular trainings are available. Find more information online. The Farmington Chamber of Commerce has opened nominations for "Business of the Year" and "Citizen of the Year". Nominate a person and/or a business you feel deserves the recognition by December 22nd. Winners will be announced during the January banquet.
