Lifting the Community - The Corndog Classic

December 19, 2025

On December 13th, M&R Service hosted “The Corndog Classic” charity event. The purpose of this annual competition is to raise money to purchase hoodies for the children of the Boys and Girls Club of San Juan county. Formerly known as “Lift for Gifts”, previous M&R Service sponsored competitions followed a simple powerlifting format of Benchpress, Barbell Squat, and Deadlift. This year, however, the competition evolved into a Sanctioned United States Strongman (USS) event. All proceeds generated by the event were donated to the Boys and Girls Club of San Juan County. Thanks to this event, and the many sponsors from around the community, M&R service was able to purchase over 750 hoodies for the Boys and Girls Club of San Juan County. By Tanner Waite. This story is sponsored by Boon's Family Thai BBQ and Home2 Suites.

A big thing that our company is, we are always trying to do a community give back. We wanted to incorporate some sort of lifting event. Excited to have everybody out. Thank you for coming. This year we, we purchased 750 hoodies for the Boys and Girls Club of San Juan County. It's really cool. Every year we would bring on and give it to the kids because there's some unfortunate circumstances out there and sweatshirt goes a long way. So, so we reached out to the Boys and Girls Club, said, Hey, we have this idea. They told us they were in need of sweatshirts and warm clothing for the winter. So we just kind of piled that all into a charity event where we got sponsors and it just kind of became a, a standard for every year. Breath. Come on belt, stabilize it. So there's fifth year that we've done it. It's kind of evolved the first four years that we did this. We did like a power lifting format of bench squat, deadlift, which is very cool, but not as fun as strong man. So what we did is we changed it into a strongman competition this year and implemented all of the strongman implements that are commonly used, be it the log, the circus, dumbbell axle bar. If you want to get involved next year, the easiest way to do it is just contact us at m and r Service. Our HR and our marketing department, they really run the show. I just get to be the face. So it's very easy. You just reach out to us, tell, tell us that you're interested in our community outreach program and we take it from there.
