Free summer concerts have begun in Aztec. The Kiwanis Club raises funds at its Forks & Corks event, and construction delays are expected on Highway 550. You're watching the Local News Roundup, brought to you by The Big Idea Makerspace at San Juan College and Boon's Family Thai BBQ. I'm your host, Ryan Simonovich. The Music at the Museum free concert series began on Friday, May 9th at the Aztec Museum & Pioneer Village with the performance by the new Mexican folk band Lone Pinon. Free concerts will continue on the second Friday of each month during the summer with the final concert scheduled for September 12th. The summer's lineup includes Black Velvet, Zia Chicks, The Badly Bent, Jeff Solon Swing'n Big Band, and The Village Band. Admission is free. Attendees should enter the Pioneer Village through the West Gate near the Splash Park on Park Avenue. Pets are not allowed. Learn more at aztecmuseum.org. Rio Del Sol Kiwanis Club of Farmington raised more than $6,000 at its Forks & Corks event on May 1st. The Kentucky Derby-themed event raised funds for the group's Clothes for Kids initiative. The annual Clothes for Kids event provides new school clothes for hundreds of elementary-aged children who shop with a volunteer for $100 worth of clothes. Those in need are selected by their teachers and counselors to participate in the program. Kiwanis' next event is the Riverfest Duck Race during Farmington Riverfest on May 25th. Tickets are available at riodelsolkiwanis.com. Drivers heading north can expect traffic delays this summer on US Highway 550 between Coal Bank Pass and Silverton. The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin two construction projects on Monday, May 12th with work continuing through the fall. CDOT crews will replace a wall at mile point 56.9 just north of the Coal Bank Pass summit and will stabilize a hillside at mile 59.3 near Deer Creek. Work will take place between 7 AM and 7 PM, Monday through Friday with occasional work on Saturdays. Drivers can expect two traffic signals and delays of up to 20 minutes. CDOT contracted the 3.4 million project to Myers & Sons Construction. To learn more about construction projects and delays on Colorado highways, visit co-trip.org.
